Motorcycle and Tri-x

hospital window

Results of Tri-x @ 1600 (above) / Microphen / 16 minutes / stock / 68F are fascinating. The film seems great for night city shots and low-light situations. More contrasty (not all like this shot), but grain much less pronounced (much less!) than with TMZ and any formula I've used with it.

During the day, the tri-x @1600 / Microphen combination is just okay - or to put it another way too contrasty.

But - I really wanted the speed for low-light situations - so thank you Markus - DigitalTruth.com and anyone else who wants thanks.

I've got my two film speeds from the same film - though with two different developers.

Oh - the shot above - without the headlights of a passing car - would have been pure black. So I stood in the rain waiting for the right beams of light - and pre-focused - and pre-metered - and took this one shot with the 50mm at f2.0.

It seems to me that Microphen is more expensive - if you are using pure stock solution - but I'd have to figure it out.

And I don't shoot 1600 that often. Also Microphen is powder - needs to be mixed, saved in bottle, etc. I like the convenience of DD-X.

I don't know yet what form exactly the forum should take or if it is useful at all. I was curious to see how difficult it would be to setup and since I know ASP pretty well - it took about an hour.

There are some features that I like - such as you could mail anyone who is a member when a new post or response is made.

And I know this is sort of elitist but I'm not sure I want just anyone posting - that's how it gets out of hand.

I like the idea of membership for posting by some sort of recommendation - some sort of approval. I've not seen that done - for public forums - but maybe. I'm sort of thinking of it as more of an information base right now.

I just have the camera under my coat. HCB style - not quite that deft I'm afraid.

As far as the forum goes - it's tricky stuff to have a good one and I have to give it some thought in terms of making it unique.

just like Barrett said, big nuff pockets for a camera
and some film and I'm back in business...

great tones here - I knew you'd like it... don't bother
trying Microphen with Tri-X @400, it's allright @800 tho.
