Today in New York.
It was a cloudy day in the park. The turtles were out in turtle pond. When I got home there was a big story about a potential bomb threat to the subways.
Turtle Pond
"It was a slow day
And the sun was beating
On the soldiers by the side of the road
There was a bright light
A shattering of shop windows
The bomb in the baby carriage
Was wired to the radio" - Paul Simon
"specific yet noncredible,"
"information was of doubtful credibility."
"This is the first time we have had a threat with this level of specificity."
So what we have here is a specific yet noncredible threat of doubtful credibility with a level of specificity we haven't seen before.
It's a tricky business. Homeland security at the federal level and city officials had different messages - but frankly - I'd put my money on the city officials in this case.

The Post which is worthless, has on it's front page: 19 thugs to bomb subways! Why 19? So the brainiacs who read the post can say, "Hey Eddie, wasn't dere like 19 of them al kieda guys on 9-11? Oh shit, you're right! This time it must be the real thing" To be able to create more fear they decide to use the number 19 to enhance the headline. Yesterday bush must have said 19 times the word FREEDOM. They hate us for our FREEDOM! and yet they leak this "credible" threat to insure that we can't have freedom from FEAR! That said, I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is just bull and be very happy if it is...
I saw a bunch of turtles at the pond near the old Plaza hotel on Sunday. Is that the "turtle pond"? Also nice shot of the runners!
Suppose you were sitting in a crowded car and you saw a guy leave his knapsack under the seat and get out of the car just as the doors were closing. What could you do?
You can't evacuate to the other cars - no room. How would you at least get everyone out of the car at the next stop and stop the train so it doesn't go any further?
Any ideas? Could there be large armored bomb disposal container at every station so that a passenger could pick up the knapsack and deposit it into the bomb disposal container at the next station?

The turtles were in Turtle Pond in Central Park - you know the pond where the big castle is in the background.
