John (well seen) - I agree with you about the black curve on the bottom. I was trying to give the shot a slightly uncomfortable feeling around the bottom edge - as if the plane of water just dropped off into nothingness which would make the rest of the print feel unsteady. Maybe I should have left it as a straight sunrise over the river shot rather than getting fancy with artistic ideas. Dunno.
Dave- Well after reading your explanation, maybe the fact it bothers me is a good thing.
Since your intention was to great an uncomfortable feeling, I say run with it. If you chop off the black curve it becomes basically a classic sunrise photograph. Leaving the curve makes it different. Eh, who says I gotta feel good looking at a photograph, ya know.
