Let's Go Mets

Yikes. Now it gets scary. If I have to listen to one more pundit say: good pitching beats good hitting - one more time. But - ya gotta believe. Why ya gotta believe, I dunno - but ya just gotta. Oy vey. It's true - the Mets have been gettin' by without starting pitching - but they're just gonna have to do it again - two nights in a row.

Whatever happens - it's been a great season. But I sure would like it to go on for a few more games. I can't get into football. I'm going to have to find some other sport to follow in the baseball off-season. Maybe badminton. I wonder why badminton never really caught on in the states. If you play it right - as we used to do in the Bronx - it can be very exciting. One rule we had was that if you hit the other guy in the face with the shuttlecock - you got extra points. And throwing the racket was also allowed.

Anyway - I will continue to believe - until it's over one way or another.

I wrote an Article on "Go Mets" But I should not have. Yesterday there was an article on internet or in newspapers that Mets have to rely on one man Rotation. Whatever that means. The Article said that Mets got lucky that the ame in St. Luis was rained out and the pitcher got a day's rest which would not have been or will not be available henceforth for the balance of the NLCS games. That Means Mets Bull Pen is Empty. You can't win matches with empty Bull Pens. Even the Hitters do not score. If the hittors do not score and the bull pen freely distributes RBI it's not mathematically possible to win Matches.

Of course Mets lost the match last night and now there are News Papers head Lines "Do Or Die" Most prrobaly it's not going to be "DO because the only thing possible is Die. So the Cards can start their celeberation without waiting for the game to end because Mets are already too exhausted to win. They lost their momentum in the last few weeks before the end of the regular season and there is no way they can regain the momentum. Lately Mets have not won two games in succession. But they have to win two Back to Back games and they have only one man rotation as the sports writers call it.

So like they says "wait Till Next Year"

How 'bout that Billy Wagner. Does he make each save a nail biter?

How 'bout that John Maine? And what the hell was Trachsel doing pitching in the bullpen last night? Doesn't he know that he's finished as a Met. Was that punishment from Willie?

I might go to the Shea parking lot tonight just to photograph the fans.

you would be doing yourself a disservice as a chronicler of things NY if you didn't go to Shea tonight. Not to mentioned you'd probably have a blast. And if they actually won it might be even better to be there when the game is over. As a Yankee fan, I've been to many playoff games during their run over the last decade and had the opportunity to see the clinching game against the Braves in '99. The party going on under the El on River Ave after the game that night was one of the most exhilirating nights I've enjoyed. Unfortunately don't have any pictures of the moment but can only imagine what you could do in such an environment.

What's funny is that it wasn't the Mets starting pitching that did them in - it was their starting batting.

I don't feel badly since they didn't deserve to win - given how they hit. Endy was incredible.
Carlos watched the last pitch pass him by which somehow seemed fitting.
This was prep. for Wright & Reyes for next year.
Trachsel is gone.
Hielman gave up the two runs - but honestly - how long can you expect the bullpen to shut out the opposition.
The bench was pretty thin when the only guy to call on can barely walk.
They gave us a great year.
Next year will be better.
